AMP in association with ALEM conducted a special lecture for the students of Barrister A.R. Antulay College of Law on 16^th Jan 2019 in Mumbai

AMP organized special lecture for First and Second Year students on 16^th January, 2019 in the A. P Conference Hall located at Anjuman Islam VT. The lecture timing was from 10.30am to 12.30pm. The guest lecture was convened by Association of Muslim Professionals wherein Miss. Muzammil Banatwalla who is the Operations Manager of AMP commenced the lecture by introducing the various projects and initiatives undertaken by AMP for the Youth and the Society.

Mr. Mohsin Alam Bhat who is Assistant Professor and Executive Director at Jindal Global Law School was the Speaker of the day. He is also a part of ALEM which is Access to Legal Education for Muslims. Mr. Bhat addressed the students on '?Affirmative Action, Role and Rights of Minorities and Constitutional Discourse in Minority Political Mobilization of India' ?wherein he imparted information on the following points:

• His area of Research i.e. Constitutional Law Theory
• Rights given to Minorities in the Country
• The problem of National Registration Card in Assam and how if implemented in its crude form will impact the residents of Assam at large
• The reservation for the economically backward in all areas and busted myths regarding reservation to backward classes
• The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Ordinance, 2019 and its lacunae

The Speaker spoke at length and covered all topics in an egalitarian manner as well as gave a pragmatic dimension to all the issues dealt with in the talk. The lecture concluded with an interaction between the students and the guest.

The Principal of the college Mrs. Falaknaaz Danish thanked the Speaker and AMP President Mr. Aamir Edresy for organizing such an informative and impactful lecture for the students. AMP would also like to thank Dr. Zahir Kazi for giving the opportunity to interact with the promising young lawyers of tomorrow.
